In Israel, a man has been sentenced to three life terms for a fire that killed a Palestinian toddler and his parents. A second child (4) survived the attack, but was seriously injured.
The man threw a firebomb at the house where the family lived in the West Bank in 2015. When the perpetrator threw the Molotov cocktail, the victims were asleep. The 18-month-old toddler died immediately. His parents died of wounds in a hospital.
Revenge
According to the criminal file, the now 25-year-old Amiram Ben-Uliel wanted revenge for the murder of an Israeli by a Palestinian a month earlier. Afterwards, Hebrew graffiti was found on the burned-out house, including the texts “revenge” and “long live the Messiah”.
The perpetrator, an Israeli settler, was found guilty of the fire last May. Today the judge said the perpetrator’s actions were carefully planned and stemmed from his radical ideology and racism.
The man’s wife said after the verdict that he is appealing the sentence.
