Israeli Foreign Ministry and Office of the Prime Minister Condemn UN General Assembly Request at International Court of Justice

The press secretary of the Israeli Foreign Ministry and the Office of the Prime Minister of Israel commented on the consideration of the UN General Assembly request at the International Court of Justice.

The Foreign Ministry said the Palestinian Authority seeks to transform the conflict into a process that should be resolved through direct dialogue without outside interference, into a legal fight. This struggle aims to establish an extremely one-sided story in which the Palestinian Arabs are assigned an exclusively sacrificial role and Israel is deprived of all rights, which is contrary to the ideas of justice.

The events of October 7, when Hamas terrorists carried out massacres, rapes and attacks on Israeli citizens, killing more than 1,200 people and which the Palestinian side ignores in their statements, highlight the risks of proposals for an unconditional Israeli withdrawal from Judea and Samaria. Such calls directly lead to the repetition of such tragedies.

The Palestinian leadership, by seeking to use international bodies as a political weapon against Israel, undermines trust in the international legal system and the possibility of a peaceful resolution of the conflict. For years it has refused direct negotiations, while inciting terrorism, spreading anti-Semitism and financially supporting terrorists.

“All this was hidden from the International Court of Justice in the distorted and one-sided questions posed to it by the UN General Assembly, which thereby attempts to predetermine the outcome of the trial, while ignoring the basic principles of international law and the legal framework applicable to the conflict,” it said. statement.

The Foreign Ministry stressed that the court should avoid participating in this “media circus” and recognize that Palestinian Arabs should adhere to the established legal framework for a peaceful resolution of the conflict through direct negotiations.

There was also a statement from the Office of the Prime Minister of Israel:

“Israel does not recognize the legitimacy of the hearings at the International Court of Justice in The Hague on the issue of the “legality of the occupation,” a move designed to attack Israel’s right to self-defense against existential threats.

The hearings in The Hague are part of the Palestinians’ attempts to dictate the outcome of a political settlement without negotiations. Let us continue to fight these attempts; the government and the Knesset are united in rejecting this vicious trend.”

Earlier, Kursor reported that new hearings against Israel had begun at the International Court.
