Israeli forces attack demonstrators in Kfar Shuba and Al-Arqoub over land bulldozing

Today, Friday, an Israeli force attacked the people of Kfar Shuba and Al-Arqoub with tear gas, during demonstrations against the bulldozing of their lands on the border line in southern Lebanon, according to Al-Araby’s correspondent.

Our correspondent stated that UNIFIL forces were deployed in the border village of Kfar Shuba to prevent the situation from worsening, and that the Lebanese army had brought reinforcements to the area.

For its part, the Israeli Army Radio said, “The army fired gas bombs to disperse Lebanese demonstrators who threw stones at its forces” in the border town of Kfar Shuba.

During the past few days, the occupation army sought to advance towards the Lebanese border in an attempt to dig a trench at the Kfar Shuba point, according to the Al-Araby correspondent.

Solidarity with Shepherd Ismail Nasser

The people carried out their protest today, Friday, in solidarity with the shepherd, Ismail Nasser from Kfar Shuba, who last Wednesday stopped the work of an Israeli bulldozer with his body on the town’s heights.

Nasser’s heroic stance, which was almost buried alive, came during a bulldozing operation carried out by the Israeli forces on his land, under the pretext of working behind the withdrawal line between Lebanon and the occupation forces.

In the video clip, Nasser appeared solid and steady in his place while the bulldozer was walking towards him and covering him with dirt, but the intervention of UNIFIL forces prevented the continuation of bulldozing operations in the area.

During the past few days, the Lebanese farmer received widespread praise for his heroic stance and standing in the face of the Israeli occupation.

Israel previously occupied large areas of Lebanon before it withdrew from its southern villages in 2000, with the exception of the Shebaa Farms and Kfar Shuba Hills.

During the past decades, Israel launched several wars against Lebanon, the latest of which was in July 2006, which led to the death of more than a thousand Lebanese and the wounding of thousands, in addition to widespread destruction of Lebanon’s infrastructure.
