(CNN) – Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant said on Saturday that Israeli forces will kill the leader of the Hamas movement in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar, but added that “the war will be shorter if the people of Gaza get hold of him first.”
Gallant stated, “At the end of the war, Hamas will no longer exist in Gaza, and Israel will act against any threat looming in the Strip.”
He added that the Israeli army had killed 12 Hamas leaders since the start of the war, and continued, “After completing the encirclement of Gaza City, Israeli forces are now fighting difficult battles inside the Strip and have entered urban areas.”
It is noteworthy that the Israeli army announced, on Saturday, the killing of four soldiers who were fighting in Gaza, bringing the total number of soldiers killed in Gaza since the start of the ground incursion to 29.
