The couple, who are in their 40s from central Israel, were arrested after the woman, one of the couple, filmed Erdogan’s palace. They may not know that the act is illegal.

The woman then sent a photo of Erdogan’s palace to the family’s WhatsApp group with the caption: “Very nice house.”
Their family members only realized what had happened when they did not return home on Tuesday (9/11/2021) as scheduled.
“It was an act of innocence done in good faith, as a tourist act, and not as a ‘criminal’ act that justified a cruel act of detention,” the couple’s lawyer, Nir Yaslovitzh, said in a letter to Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid. who called for the Israeli government to intervene.
A senior Israeli official told the news site Ynet that Tel Aviv “acted quietly” to release the couple.
Earlier on Thursday, a relative of the couple’s family told Israeli media; can: “No Israeli officials have contacted us, so we do not know for sure what has happened.”
The couple will appear Friday before a court in Turkey where a judge is expected to order their immediate deportation back to Israel.
