The Foreign Ministry is reportedly working to bring his body to Israel

A 23-year-old man from Ashdod has died in Mexico, apparently after falling ill at a party. He was transferred to hospital where he was pronounced dead. The cause of death is still unknown and the foreign ministry said it was working to send the body to Israel for burial. “The incident is being handled by the Mexican consul and the Foreign Ministry’s Department for Needy Israelis,” the statement read.

“I am in contact with the family of the deceased to take his coffin back to Israel for burial. The cause of death is currently unknown and local Mexican authorities are looking into the matter.” This incident is not the first in which an Israeli citizen is said to have died in the South American country.

In 2019, a 45-year-old Israeli DJ known as “Perplex” was murdered in Mexico after gunmen stormed a nightclub in the central Mexican city of San Luis Potosi, where he worked.
