In New York, in the Fort Greene district, Israeli chef Tomer Blechman has just opened a new address called Theodora. Architect Oliver Haslegrave of Home Studios designed the warm decor.
Located in the northwest of Brooklyn, the Fort Greene neighborhood has had a new address since the beginning of February 2024. It is in fact here that the restaurant has just opened Theodora, under the leadership of Israeli chef Tomer Blechman. The chef here offers friendly cuisine with Mediterranean flavors that gives pride of place to seasonal products and dry-aged seafood. A relaxed menu, which revolves around a large wood fire, the centerpiece of the open kitchen.
The owner commissioned architect Oliver Haslegrave to Home Studios the care to imagine a warm decor, like the dishes served here. To do this, the architect increased the use of warm materials, neutral tones and played on the profusion of light. Large windows punctuate the different spaces of the restaurant, while a large original vault covers the ceiling and is echoed in the curved lines of the walls. The rest of the spot is adorned with wood for the benches and woven rush seats, but also with terracotta tiles and zelliges in the kitchen. We also note the presence of ceramic hanging lamps by Ben and Aja Blanc, or even terrazzo-style mosaics. So many nods to the Mediterranean soul of the place and its owner.
