Although the entire world calls for an end to the war between Israel and Hamas, the reality is that the violence continues and the death toll continues to rise.
Israel’s military says it has encircled Gaza City as international condemnation mounts over the 28-day-old Israeli attack on the besieged Palestinian territory.
On the other hand, the death toll is terrifying: more than 9,200 people have lost their lives in these events, including at least 3,800 boys and girls. Among the dead and wounded are Palestinians who were taking refuge in a United Nations-run school in the Jabaliya refugee camp, where at least 27 people died last Thursday due to an Israeli offensive.
“No place is safe. They even attacked the school. They said ‘flee to the schools’, and then they attacked the schools. Where are the Arab leaders?” said one Gaza resident.
Finally, a group of seven prominent United Nations human rights experts warned last Thursday: “Time is running out to avoid genocide and a humanitarian catastrophe.”
