“The musical compositions of the Israeli singer and songwriter Asaf Avidan and the melodic vocals heard in them are reminiscent of the musical compositions of Janice Joplin or Nin Simon,” the festival organizers introduced the musician. “Reckoning Song”, which was one of the artist’s first compositions in 2008, only recently gained attention among music lovers thanks to the 2012 remix “One Day / The Reckoning Song” by DJ Wankelmut. The adapted performance of the song won the top of the radio charts for a long time, as well as won platinum awards.
The latest album “Anagnorisis”, composed and recorded during the pandemic, has also called on the artist to focus on new musical searches and influences from David Bovie’s musical work, dedicating the newly created composition “Earth Odyssey” in memory of the artist. As one of the main settings in the creation of the album, the artist put forward the need to perform all the vocalized melodies himself, regardless of whether it is a choir song typical of soul music or melodic solo vocals.
Asaf Avidan will perform at the Positivus Festival on Friday, July 15th.
The “Positivus” festival will take place this summer on July 15 and 16 in a new venue – Riga, Lucavsala.
