On Monday morning, Israeli artillery bombed the outskirts of several towns in the western and central sectors of southern Lebanon.
The bombing targeted the eastern outskirts of the town of Naqoura, as well as the Ruwaisat area, and the outskirts of the town of Aitaroun, while Israeli Channel 12 reported rockets being launched from Lebanon, a number of which landed in open areas in the Western Galilee.
Yesterday, Hezbollah in Lebanon announced in separate statements that it had launched 10 attacks, targeting Israeli sites, concentrations of occupation forces, military headquarters, and Israeli centers along the southern border in Lebanon.
Yesterday, Israeli aircraft launched a series of raids, targeting a number of homes in the villages of the central sector, and the towns of Mays al-Jabal, Maroun al-Ras, and Aita al-Shaab.
Yesterday, Hezbollah mourned three of its fighters, and said in separate statements that they “rose as martyrs on the road to Jerusalem,” bringing the number of its members who were martyred since the beginning of the border battles to 110.
This comes as the border between Lebanon and Israel has witnessed tension and intermittent exchange of fire between the Israeli army and Hezbollah, which is supported by Lebanese and Palestinian factions since the start of the aggression against Gaza on October 7 last year.
French movement for calm
Diplomatically, French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna will arrive in Beirut today, coming from Tel Aviv, where she will meet with Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri and caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati, after this visit was postponed from Saturday to today, following a malfunction in the French Minister’s plane. .
The French Foreign Minister’s visit to Lebanon comes within the framework of Paris’s efforts to avoid the widening of the escalation between Israel and Hezbollah into a comprehensive war.
A few days ago, member of the Israeli Military Ministerial Council, Benny Gantz, vowed to “remove Lebanese Hezbollah from the borders if the world did not work on this.”
Gantz, leader of the National Unity Party, added after a meeting with representatives of Israeli towns near the border with Lebanon: “Last week I spoke with the foreign ministers of Britain, France, Germany, and the United States, and with other world leaders, and invited them here to see the reality.”
