The Israeli army withdraws some soldiers from Gaza for training and rest in preparation for subsequent battles
Palestinian media reported that a house in the Deir al-Bayrah area of central Gaza was bombed by Israeli forces on New Year’s Day, killing at least 15 people and injuring many others. In the south, fighting continues in Khan Younis.
Gaza’s health department said at least 156 people died in Gaza in the past day, bringing the death toll there since the conflict to more than 21,900. Two-thirds of the dead were women and children.
