The Israeli army fired rockets into Syria on Sunday. The attack was in retaliation for a rocket attack on the Golan Heights. The six missiles fired there from Syria on Saturday and Sunday caused no damage.
According to the Lebanese channel Al Mayadeen the attack on Israel has been claimed by the Al-Quds Brigades. That is the armed branch of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad. This wing is supported by Iran.
Three of the six missiles reached the Golan Heights. Two rockets fell to the ground and a third was intercepted by air defenses, according to the Israeli army.
Most of the Golan Heights were captured by Israel from Syria during the Six-Day War in 1967.
There has been unrest in Israel, Jerusalem and the West Bank for some time now. Protests have been going on in Israel for months now. They are directed against the legal reforms that the right-wing government wants to implement.
