Israeli Army Launches Intensive Night Raid, Targets 150 Underground Sites in Gaza

Israeli Army: Fighters hit 150 underground targets in Gaza night raid

(AFP, Tel Aviv, 28th) The Israeli military said today that Israeli warplanes launched intensive night attacks and hit 150 “underground targets” in northern Gaza.

The Israeli military issued a statement saying that the targets included “terror tunnels, underground combat spaces and additional underground infrastructure. In addition, several Hamas terrorists were killed.”

Commissioners in the Gaza Strip and southern Israel said shelling and air strikes continued today, but were not as intensive as at night.

The Israeli military said in a separate statement that Asem Abu Rakaba, the head of Hamas’s air strikes, had died in a raid. Raqaba played a key role in the Hamas raid on Israel on October 7. The October 7 raid sparked the ongoing fighting between Israel and Hamas.

Israel said about 1,400 people, mostly civilians, were killed in Hamas cross-border attacks. The health ministry in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip said Israeli attacks have killed more than 7,300 people, mostly civilians.

According to the Israeli military, Raqaba is in charge of Hamas’s drones, parachutes, aerial reconnaissance and aerial defense.

“He directed terrorists to infiltrate Israel using parachutes and was responsible for launching drone attacks on Israel Defense Forces posts,” the Israeli military said in a statement.
