The Palestinian Ministry of Health said, “The young man, Muhammad Faisal Abu Awad (27 years old), was killed by a live bullet in the abdomen fired at him by the Israeli occupation army in Tulkarm.”

The Palestinian Red Crescent Ambulance Society said that its crews transported “a martyr… from Nour Shams (camp) in Tulkarm.”

According to Rami Alian, a member of the Popular Committee in Nour Shams camp, the dead young man “was hit by a sniper’s bullet, and he was a civilian who had nothing to do with anything.”

With the killing of Abu Awad, the death toll of Palestinians since Tuesday in Tulkarm alone rises to six.

For its part, the Israeli army told Agence France-Presse that its forces responded with fire while working to “explore the roads where the explosive devices were planted.”

An Agence France-Presse photographer observed the effects of an Israeli bulldozer, a house completely destroyed, other houses being severely damaged, and their furniture scattered in the alleys of Nour Shams camp.

Alian confirmed that Israeli bulldozers “destroyed roads and some homes.”

Israel has occupied the West Bank since 1967, and its forces regularly carry out military operations in Palestinian cities and villages.

The West Bank has witnessed an escalation in violence since the outbreak of war between Israel and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in Gaza, which led to the killing and arrest of hundreds of Palestinians in raids on cities and camps.

Since the outbreak of the war on October 7, at least more than 360 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli army or settler fire in the West Bank, according to figures from the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

In the city of Nablus, Palestinians mourned one of those killed in the Israeli drone attack that was carried out on Wednesday in the Balata refugee camp, in which five activists were killed, according to what the Palestinian Ministry of Health reported.

Mourners gathered Thursday for the funeral of Yazan Najmi, one of those killed in the bombing, whose body was wrapped in the Palestinian flag.

The Red Crescent said that its crews dealt with nine injuries in Tulkarm and eight in the Al-Amari camp at the southern entrance to the city of Ramallah in the middle of the occupied West Bank.
