Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Israeli army spokesman Admiral Daniel Hagari said on Thursday that the Israeli army will continue ground raids on Gaza in the coming days to prepare for the next stages of the war against Hamas.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant pledged in a press conference on Thursday that “there will be more.”
Gallant’s comments were identical to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech on Wednesday, during which he said that Israel was “raining fire on Hamas” and “preparing for a ground incursion.”
The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said that a total of 1.4 million people – out of Gaza’s population of more than two million – have been displaced since October 7, and about 629,000 people are living in UN shelters. Half of Gaza’s population are children.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in Gaza said on Wednesday that it would be forced to halt aid operations within a day if fuel was not delivered, saying it would mark the end of a “lifeline” for civilians.
