Israeli Army Bombing Hezbollah Targets in Southern Lebanon: Latest Updates

The Israeli army announced on Friday the bombing of Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon.

Earlier today, the Lebanese “Hezbollah” claimed responsibility for the attack on Israeli positions on the border with Lebanon “in response to the repeated Israeli bombing” of Lebanese villages in the south of the country.

The party said in a statement: “In response to the Israeli attacks on Friday afternoon around a number of southern Lebanese towns, the Mujahideen of the Islamic Resistance attacked Israeli positions.”

He pointed out that the sites he targeted were Al-Abad, Misqafam, Ramia, and Jal Al-Alam, with direct and appropriate weapons, and they achieved accurate hits.

Earlier the same day, the Lebanese Army announced that Israeli forces had targeted, in the southern border town of Alma al-Shaab, an unoccupied Lebanese Army watchtower.

The army said in a statement: “The Israeli enemy targeted, in the outskirts of the town of Alma al-Shaab, an unoccupied watchtower of the Lebanese army, which is used circumstantially while carrying out security missions and measures.”

He added: “No casualties were recorded among the military.”

Meanwhile, the official Lebanese News Agency said that the border towns of Al-Dhaira and Alma Al-Shaab were subjected to bombardment by the Israeli army amid an intense flight of Apache military helicopters.

On Thursday evening, Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati asked his country’s Foreign Minister, Abdullah Bouhabib, to submit an urgent complaint against Israel to the UN Security Council, against the backdrop of its “repeated attacks against Lebanon.”

These developments come on the seventh day in which the Gaza Strip, which has been besieged since 2006, has been subjected to intense Israeli air strikes that destroyed entire neighborhoods, killing thousands of civilians and wounding them, causing a mass exodus, in addition to cutting off supplies of water, electricity, food, and other basic facilities to the Strip.

At dawn on Saturday, Hamas and other Palestinian factions in Gaza launched Operation “Al-Aqsa Flood,” in response to “the continuing attacks by Israeli forces and settlers against the Palestinian people, their property, and their sanctities, especially Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem.”

On the other hand, the Israeli army launched Operation Iron Swords and continues to launch intensive raids on many areas in the Gaza Strip, which is inhabited by more than two million Palestinians who suffer from deteriorating living conditions as a result of an ongoing Israeli siege since 2006.
