Israeli archaeologists say they have found dozens of fragments of an unknown Dead Sea Scroll with a biblical text.
The fragments were found in a cave in the desert, where they were probably hidden during a Jewish uprising against Rome almost 1,900 years ago.

In fragments of papyrus there is a Greek text from the book of Zechariah and the book of Nahum. They are dated to the 2nd century, the Israeli Ministry of Ancient Monuments said, citing the Associated Press and BTA.
These are the first fragments of scrolls found in the desert south of Jerusalem in 60 years. They are believed to be from a series of parchments from the site, called the “Cave of Horrors” because of the 40 human skeletons found there in the 1960s. The cave is in a canyon in the Judean desert.
The scrolls were probably stored in the cave during Bar Kochba’s revolt against Rome during the reign of Emperor Hadrian from 132 to 136.
The Dead Sea Scrolls were found in desert caves on the West Coast near Qumran in the 1940s and 1950s. They are dated to the 3rd century BC to the 1st century AD. Among them are the earliest known biblical texts and documents with the beliefs of a little-understood Jewish sect.
In addition to Roman artifacts, excavations in more than 500 desert caves have found a mummified skeleton of a 6,000-year-old child and a huge 10,500-year-old Neolithic basket.
