Israeli Ambassador to UN Leaves Security Council Meeting in Protest: “Shame and Absurdity”

Israeli Ambassador to the UN Gilad Erdan expressed his protest, leaving the meeting of the Security Council.

The diplomat insisted on postponing the discussion of the Palestinian issue, which was appointed * by Russia, which chairs the Security Council in April, to another day, so as not to violate the sanctity of the Day of Remembrance of the Fallen Soldiers and Victims of Terrorism – an important day for the Israelis.

The UN Security Council held a special discussion on the Palestinian issue, in which the foreign ministers of Russia and the Palestinian Authority took part, despite advance requests from the Israeli ambassador to the UN to postpone the date of the meeting.

“I asked you to change the date of the debate, and the decision to hold it, in the end, only confirms everything we already know about this anti-Semitic and biased body. The State of Israel mourns, this council, as usual, will hear outright lies against Israel, and meanwhile, as expected, the real threat to the region, the Ayatollah regime in Iran, will not even be a footnote in today’s discussion. A shame! I refuse to take part in this absurdity, instead I will take the opportunity to honor the memory of the victims of Palestinian terrorism last year and those who died in the line of duty,” Erdan said.

After that, the diplomat read out the names of the dead Israelis and left the hall where the meeting of the UN Security Council was held.
