Israeli Airstrikes on Jabaliya Refugee Camp in Gaza Strip Leave Over 190 Dead: International Outcry

Local authorities announced today (2nd) that at least 195 people have been killed so far in Israeli airstrikes on the Jabaliya refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip.

The media organization of Hamas, a Palestinian armed political faction, claimed in a statement that day that air strikes on refugee camps continued for two days, leaving at least 120 missing and 777 injured in addition to the dead.

The Gaza Strip’s Ministry of Health announced yesterday (1st) that the number of Palestinian deaths in the Gaza Strip following Hamas’ surprise attack on Israel on the 7th of last month reached at least 8,796.

Meanwhile, the Israeli military claimed that two Hamas commanders were killed and dozens of people, including Hamas members, were killed in the airstrike on the Jabaliya refugee camp.

In addition, it was announced that one Israeli soldier was killed in the battle in the northern Gaza Strip that day, bringing a total of 17 Israeli soldiers dead since the expansion of ground operations in the Gaza Strip on the 27th of last month.

The Israeli military claimed that Hamas was deliberately putting civilians at risk by setting up command posts and terrorist infrastructure underground, around and inside civilian buildings in the area.

Meanwhile, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said he was “appalled” by Israel’s airstrikes on refugee camps.

Secretary-General Guterres said in a statement yesterday (1st), “We are responding to the escalating violence in the Gaza Strip, including the killings of Palestinians, including women and children, and Israeli airstrikes on residential areas in the densely populated Jabaliya refugee camp. “I am shocked,” he said.
