Israel will allow small tourist groups from selected countries to visit the country from September 19 as part of a pilot program to restart tourism, Reuters reported, citing the Israeli government.
Tourist groups of 5 to 30 people from the countries in Israel’s green, yellow and orange lists will be allowed to enter the country, as long as all their members are fully vaccinated, the Israeli Ministry of Tourism announced. However, the ban on visits by individual tourists remains.
In May, Israel allowed visits to small tourist groups, but with the spread of the Delta option in August, they were stopped, writes BTA.
The ban remains in force for groups of countries on the red list of countries at high risk of COVID-19. The red list includes Bulgaria, Brazil, Mexico and Turkey.
Arriving tourists will have to provide proof of a second dose of vaccines in the last six months or a booster third dose. In addition, they will need to have a negative PCR test done up to 72 hours before the trip and will undergo a serological test on arrival at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv.
