The Embassy of Israel in Bulgaria expressed its gratitude to the Bulgarian authorities for the cancellation of Lukovmarsh.
This is stated in a statement to the media.
According to the embassy, the decision is of particular importance this year, as Bulgaria celebrates its 80th anniversary from the rescue of its Jews during the Second World War, one of the most glorious events in Bulgarian history.
The embassy thanked of the government and especially of the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Prosecutor General of Bulgaria, the Mayor of Sofia, DANS, the Bulgarian Police and all other law enforcement bodies.

The cancellation of “Lukovmarsh” is indeed an expression of the strong, continuous and sustainable Bulgarian efforts to fight anti-Semitism, xenophobia, intolerance and hate speech. Tonight, once again, it became clear that the fight against these vicious phenomena is really a top priority for Bulgaria, the position also says.
On the eve of the 80th anniversary of the rescue of the Bulgarian Jews, Bulgaria did not allow an anti-democratic demonstration such as the Lukovmarsh to take place. The VAP calls on them, within their competence, to take measures to protect public order and protect the rights of citizens in cases of danger during the event.
The prosecutor’s office indicated that a file was opened in the VAP after receiving a letter from the official minister of foreign affairs, in which concern was expressed about the holding of such an event. The state prosecution clarifies. That opinions have also been received from the Ministry of the Interior, the State Customs Service and from non-governmental organizations related to alleged risks of violations of public order.

Geshev signed a declaration “Against the hatred that divides us” a week ago the holding of “Lukovmarsh” in Sofia.
