The Israeli military today released video showing Hamas leader Yahya Shinwar in a tunnel in the Gaza Strip hours before the attack launched by the Palestinian Islamist movement in southern Israel on October 7, 2023.
The video shows Sinwar, his wife and two boys walking into the tunnel where the Hamas leader appears to have stored supplies ahead of the unprecedented attack on Israeli soil.
“You can see how Sinuar and his family escape to an underground complex located under his house on the night of October 6, just a few hours before the terrible massacre,” army spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari.
“They stay alone for hours. Sinuar and his son go up and down with food, water, pillows, a plasma TV screen, mattresses and other things for a long stay,” he added.

“Sinouar was killed with a bullet to the head”
The death of Yahya Sinuaer, believed to be the mastermind of the October 7 attack, was announced yesterday Thursday by the Israeli authorities, after he was killed the day before by soldiers after an exchange of fire in Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip.
An autopsy showed she was killed by a bullet to the head, according to the New York Times.
The military also released video showing an Israeli tank opening fire on a building that Rear Admiral Hagari said the Hamas leader had taken refuge in.
Yahya Sinwar had not been seen in public since the start of the war in Gaza that erupted with the October 7 attack. He was named the political leader of Hamas after the death of Ismail Haniya, who was assassinated on July 31 in Tehran, an action attributed to Israel.
