Israel plans to evacuate 14 more villages near the border with Lebanon
Israel added 14 more villages near the Lebanese border to the evacuation list, Reuters reported, citing a joint statement by the defense ministry and the army. Further evacuations will follow repeated rocket and artillery attacks by the Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah and friendly Palestinian factions in the past two weeks.
The municipalities named in the statement, which was approved by Defense Minister Joav Galant, are located near Lebanon and Syria. According to the minister’s National Emergency Management Office, residents will be taken to state-funded boarding houses.
Last week, Israel began the evacuation of 28 villages located two kilometers from the border, as well as the town of Kiryat Shmona, which has approximately 23,000 inhabitants.
