Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper said that Israel decides to appear before the International Court of Justice to respond to South Africa’s lawsuit.

She added that the Israeli occupation army and political parties held several meetings recently to discuss dealing with South Africa’s lawsuit.

Previously, the International Court of Justice said that South Africa had submitted a request to file a lawsuit against Israel for violating the Genocide Convention.

The International Court of Justice added that South Africa’s lawsuit says that Israel carried out actions aimed at ethnic cleansing in Gaza.

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres renewed the call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza for humanitarian reasons and the release of prisoners.

During his speech before the Security Council last Friday, Guterres urged all parties to exercise the utmost restraint and take urgent steps to calm tensions in the region, explaining that there is a continuing danger of a widespread regional conflict the longer the conflict in Gaza continues.

The Secretary-General continued that the escalation of violence in the West Bank, including intensive Israeli operations and settler violence, is a matter of concern.

The representative of Palestine in the Security Council said that the famine and the collapse of the health system in Gaza are part of a process of terrorizing the people of the Strip.

The representative of Palestine added that Israel is trying to silence critics of the crimes it commits against civilians, explaining that Israel is escaping punishment and rejects ceasefire resolutions.
