Israel Tells US “Serious Reservations” Regarding Iran Nuclear Deal

ROME (Reuters) – Israel has “serious reservations” about the Iran nuclear deal being negotiated in Vienna, new Foreign Minister Yair Lapid told his US counterpart Antony Blinken on Sunday.

During their first one-on-one meeting since the installation of the new Israeli government two weeks ago, Antony Blinken and Yair Lapid had a very positive and warm discussion, according to US officials.

The US Secretary of State also raised the issue of humanitarian aid in Gaza.

Iran and the United States have entered into indirect talks on the revival of the 2015 nuclear deal between Tehran and the great powers imposing restrictions on Tehran’s nuclear activities in exchange for the lifting of international sanctions.

“Israel has serious reservations about the Iran nuclear deal being reached in Vienna. We believe the way to discuss these disagreements is through direct conversations, not press conferences,” he said. Yair Lapid said ahead of the meeting, which was held in Rome.
