On Thursday, Reuters news agency quoted three security sources as saying that Palestinian factions, not Hezbollah, were behind the firing of rockets at Israel earlier today.
Reuters did not mention the names of these sources, nor if they were in Lebanon or Israel.
Our correspondent had reported earlier that there were Israeli assumptions that Palestinian factions were behind the rocket fire from Lebanon.
Sources: “It will not take place without the approval of Hezbollah.”
- According to Haaretz, citing sources, the military establishment in Israel believes that carrying out such activity cannot take place without the approval of Hezbollah.
A barrage of missiles at Israel, and the latter responded
- Earlier, Israeli media reported that 30 rockets were fired at Israel, 15 of which were intercepted by Iron Dome.
- Our reporter reported that sirens sounded again in the Upper Galilee.
- Haaretz newspaper revealed that two Israelis were slightly injured in the bombing.
- Israel summoned fighter jets from the Air Force to deal with the situation.
- Israel responded initially with artillery shelling targeting the outskirts of the towns of Qlaleel and Al-Maaliyah in Tire district, southern Lebanon.
- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Minister of Defense and the head of the Shin Bet, meet shortly at the headquarters of the Israeli Ministry of Defense in Tel Aviv to discuss the response to the Lebanese missiles.
- Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen said his government would take “all necessary measures to protect our people and our country.”
