But the new channel was called Shelanu, which means “ours,” translates correspondent Rechess, “and the broadcasts were also in Hebrew.” So the channel’s target audience was not the Christian community, but the entire Jewish community. “And that is very sensitive in Israel.”
According to certain passages in Israeli law, you may not convert people to another religion. Because the channel did not state that intention in the license application, the Israeli Broadcasting Council decided that the channel had to disappear from the TV.
This does not mean that God TV will disappear permanently from Israel. The door is still ajar: the channel can submit a new license application, but with an honest description of their programs. The application can then be viewed again.
