Israel suffered ‘the biggest cyberattack’ in its history

A cyberattack on an unprecedented scale. Hackers targeted many Israeli websites on Monday, March 14, including those of ministries – making consultation of these pages inaccessible for part of the evening.

“In the past few hours, a denial of service (DDoS) attack has been identified on a communications provider which, as a result, for a short time prevented access to a number of sites, including government sites “, indicated on Twitter the national direction of cybersecurity. This organization did not specify the origin of this attack, which consists in saturating the servers of the victim by burying it under the requests.

Emergency services on alert

Although access to the Israeli government site was restored inside Israel, it was ‘unreachable internationally’, NetBlocks, a global internet monitoring organization, claims . According to the daily “Haaretz”, a source within the country’s defense industry says that this is the largest cyberattack ever launched against the country. The Communications Ministry said it conducted a “situational assessment with the ministry’s emergency services following a widespread cyber attack on government sites”.

In recent months, several Israeli sites have been the target of computer attacks attributed by experts to Iran, the sworn enemy of the Jewish state. For its part, Tehran recently accused Washington and the Jewish state of a cyberattack that disrupted its fuel distribution system. On Sunday, the ideological army of the Islamic Republic of Iran claimed responsibility for firing missiles against a target in Iraqi Kurdistan presented as a “strategic center” of Israel, but the local Kurdish authorities denied the existence of such Jewish state sites on their territory.
