Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Israel suddenly asked its citizens to leave Turki. This was stated directly by the Israeli Foreign Minister, Yair Lapid, Monday (13/6/2022).
Residents were asked to leave as soon as possible. It said Iran would carry out operations against Israelis in Istanbul.
The stern warning comes amid a new wave of tensions between Israel and Iran. Tehran has blamed the Jewish state for a series of attacks on its nuclear and military infrastructure, including in Syria.
“If you are already in Istanbul, return to Israel as soon as possible,” Lapid said in a public warning AFP.
“If you’ve already planned a flight to Istanbul, cancel it. No vacation is worth your life.”
“Don’t fly to Turkey at all unless it’s an important trip,” he added.
Turkey itself is consistently a popular holiday destination for Israelis. Ankara and Tel Aviv have become even more intimate in recent months.
Earlier, the Israeli newspaper, Yediot Ahronot, quoted an unnamed security official. They say that there are several Iranian “cells” planning operations against Israeli tourists in Turkey.
