Inflammation of the heart muscle is usually caused by viruses, “rarely by medication”, notes Dr. Droogmans. He also calculated it: in Israel it has only been detected in 0.005 percent of the vaccinated. That is exactly the number of cases that you can expect in normal circumstances.
“Now they have seen slightly more cases in Israel compared to a control group. That is why they have communicated a signal without making further scientific data available”, says Steven Droogmans.
However, Droogmans calls it a case of overcommunication in the current focus on vaccines. “The number of confirmed cases of myocarditis in Israel is extremely low.”
