Today, Wednesday, Israel renewed its bombardment with artillery and phosphorus shells on several areas in southern Lebanon. According to the National News Agency, the Israeli bombing targeted the Labouneh-Naqoura area.
The agency reported that the outskirts of the towns of Alma al-Shaab and Tayr Harfa were subjected to “hostile artillery shelling,” adding that the occupation forces targeted the town of Kafr Kila with phosphorus shells.
It is noteworthy that last Monday, the Israeli army targeted residential buildings in several towns and villages in southern Lebanon, with air strikes and artillery shelling using phosphorus shells.
On the other hand, Al Jazeera’s correspondent reported that two missiles were fired from southern Lebanon on Wednesday towards an Israeli military site in the occupied Shebaa Farms.
On Monday, Hezbollah announced that it had targeted gatherings of Israeli soldiers in the vicinity of the Al-Rahib site, opposite the town of Aita al-Shaab in southern Lebanon, with appropriate weapons.
The border areas in southern Lebanon are witnessing an escalation in security tension, as fire has been exchanged between the Israeli army and members of Hezbollah in Lebanon since the eighth of last October, after Israel declared war on the Gaza Strip.
Since Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, Israel has been waging a devastating war on Gaza, which as of Tuesday resulted in the death of 25,700 Palestinians and the injury of 63,740 others, most of them children and women. This war also caused massive destruction of infrastructure, leaving an “unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe,” according to Palestinian and international reports.
