Israel released their rocking song – This is what it sounds like – 2024-03-12 12:50:19

Israel’s representative song at Eurovision this year is called Hurricane.

Israel is represented at this year’s Eurovision by 20-year-old Eden Gola with a song Hurricane. The representative song was released late Sunday night.

The song has already aroused a lot of discussion in advance, because the Israeli broadcasting company Kan had to modify the lyrics of the song several times.

According to the press release, the newly released verse is about recovering from a personal crisis. You can listen Hurricane-paragraph at the end of this article.

Originally, the song was supposed to be called October Rain. However, the EBU, i.e. the European Broadcasting Union, rejected the song because the lyrics were considered too political. It was claimed on social media that the name of the song refers to the terrorist attacks by Hamas that took place in October last year.

Israel’s public broadcaster even threatened to withdraw from the song contest if the song was not accepted by the EBU. The president of the country Isaac Herzog intervened in the situation and appealed to the public broadcasting company. The president thinks it is important that the country participates in Eurovision.

Israel’s participation in Eurovision has sparked a lot of discussion because of the war in Gaza. Finnish artists handed over a petition to Yleisradio in January, in which they demanded Yle to put pressure on the EBU to exclude Israel from the song contest.

Israel competes in the second semi-final of Eurovision. Finland will be represented this year by Windows95man and Henri Piispanen with a song No rules.
