Israel relaxes corona restrictions, especially for those who are vaccinated

The measure comes at the same time as a series of relaxations that apply to all citizens. For example, museums, libraries, markets and shopping centers can open their doors to everyone again today. Mouth masks and keeping your distance remain mandatory, even for green pass holders.

Vaccination campaign

In recent weeks, the number of new infections in Israel has declined steadily, partly thanks to a vigorous vaccination campaign. The country has now vaccinated more than 45 percent of all citizens. And that is bearing fruit: among people who are fully vaccinated, the risk of disease from the corona virus decreases by more than 95 percent.

Yet not everyone is convinced about the vaccine. For a few weeks now, every Israeli over 16 has been able to get vaccinated, but the pace is slowing down. Young Israelis seem less keen on a shot. And also among some population groups, such as among Arab Israelis and ultra-Orthodox Jews, the figures are lagging behind.
