Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Israel angry at PBB who approved the humanitarian ceasefire resolution for Gaza in addressing their and Hamas’ problems. Israel firmly rejects the resolution adopted by the UN General Assembly.
Israel’s Ambassador to the UN Gilad Erdan stated that the UN no longer has legitimacy or relevance. The majority vote against the resolution was called “blasphemy” and Israel said it would continue to defend itself.

“This is a dark day for the UN and humanity,” Gilad Erdan said as he vowed Israel would use all means in the fight against Hamas.
“Today is a day that will be considered an infamy. We have all seen the UN no longer have the slightest legitimacy or relevance,” he stressed.
During the vote, Israel rejected the resolution proposed by Arab countries along with the United States and 12 other countries. Israel stated that the resolution did not mention the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7.

“This ridiculous resolution shows the courage to call for a ceasefire. The purpose of this ceasefire is so that Israel stops defending itself against Hamas, so that Hamas can light fire on us,” he said during the vote.
Israel has voiced its rejection of the ceasefire from the start, such as in the emergency session on Thursday (26/10). Gilad Erdan at that time stated that the humanitarian ceasefire would only benefit Palestinian militant groups.
“A ceasefire means giving Hamas time to arm themselves so they can massacre us again,” Erdan said at the time.
However, the call for a ceasefire was approved by the majority of members of the UN General Assembly because it also expressed the protection of Palestinian civilians who face constant bombardment by Israel in Gaza.
The resolution also highlights the delivery of food, water, medicine and fuel that is urgently needed after Israel’s recent blockade.
This resolution was drafted by Arab countries, is not binding, but has political weight in line with the increase in attacks and Israel’s planned ground operations in Gaza in response to the Hamas attack on October 7.
Jordanian Ambassador to the UN Mahmoud Hmoud, speaking for 22 Arab countries, called for immediate action from the 193-member world body.
The decision was taken with 120 votes in favor from members. Meanwhile, 45 abstained and 14 voted against, including Israel and the United States.
