Washington:Jake Sullivan, spokesman for the White House Security Council, said that Israel should provide an explanation for the discovery of hundreds of bodies from mass graves in hospitals in Gaza. “We want answers. This should be thoroughly and transparently investigated,” said Sullivan.
More than 340 bodies were recovered this week from Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis, southern Gaza. More than 30 dead bodies were recovered from two graves in the Alshifa hospital complex.
After days of heavy attacks, the Israeli army returned, and the bodies were found when the hospitals were searched. The UN and the European Union have previously called for an independent investigation. However, the Israeli military spokesman, Major Nadav Shoshani, responded that the bodies were buried by the people of Gaza and that some of the bodies found while searching for the maids were hidden by Israeli forces.
The US wants immediate and unrestricted aid to Gaza President Joe Biden has asked Israel.
