Israel predicts an Iranian attack in a matter of days

Relationship tension Israel with Iran getting hotter. Israel expects Iran to attack its territory in the next few days.

The conflict between the two countries increased after the leader of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, was killed in the city of Tehran, Iran, two weeks ago. Iran accused Israel of being the mastermind behind Haniyeh’s death.

Haniyeh’s death prompted a strong reaction from Iran. The Iranian side promised to retaliate by hitting back at Israel.

Israel’s Latest Intelligence Report

Israel’s intelligence community believes that Iran has decided to launch a direct attack against it in retaliation for the assassination of a prominent Hamas figure on its territory two weeks ago. Tehran is expected to launch its retaliation against Tel Aviv in the next few days.

As reported Al ArabiyaOn Monday (12/8/2024), Israel’s belief was expressed by two sources cited by Axios reporter Barak Ravid in his latest report on Sunday (11/8) local time.

Ravid said an Iranian retaliatory attack on Israel could happen before August 15, the date set by the US, Egypt and Qatar for the latest Gaza ceasefire talks. Tel Aviv has confirmed that it will participate in the talks, while Hamas has not responded.

The Middle East has been on high alert since the assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran and the assassination of Hezbollah senior commander Fuad Shukr in the suburbs of Beirut two weeks ago. Iran and its regional proxies, including Hezbollah, blamed Israel for both the killings and vowed revenge.

Although Tel Aviv itself has not released anything about Haniyeh’s death. So far, Israel has only claimed responsibility for Shukr’s death.
