Israel Opens Keremshalom Border Checkpoints for Humanitarian Aid Shipments to Gaza

Israel opened the Keremshalom border checkpoints on Sunday to allow humanitarian aid shipments into the Gaza Strip, Israel’s military agency COGAT, which coordinates day-to-day affairs with the Palestinian Authority, said.

Starting today, UN aid trucks through Keremshalom will undergo security checks and will be transferred directly to Gaza, thus complying with our agreement with the US,” COGAT announced on the “X” platform.

The board also released a picture showing a line of trucks.

The purpose of opening the border checkpoint is to increase the flow of humanitarian aid that reaches the Gaza Strip every day, COGAT said.

Considering the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the demarcated Gaza Strip, Israel has recently received criticism from the international community, including its closest ally the United States.

The purpose of opening the border checkpoint is to ease tensions at Egypt’s Rafah border crossing to Gaza. Before the war, Keremshalom was used to transport goods to Gaza.
