The Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Kanté Kouassi Joachim, accompanied by the Director General of Diaspora, Doctor Gaoussou Ouattara, was at daybreak this Saturday, October 26, 2024, at the ministerial lounge at Félix Houphouët Boigny airport for the welcoming a delegation of Ivorians residing in Lebanon.

Following the crisis shaking the Middle East, and the rise in tension between the Israeli army and Hezbollah fighters from Lebanon, the State of Côte d’Ivoire on the instructions of the President of the Republic, SEM Alassane Ouattara decided to repatriate his nationals and the diplomatic corps residing in Lebanon.

At the head of a delegation of a dozen Ivorians, made up largely of diplomatic staff, Ambassador Christophe Kouakou expressed all his joy towards the President of the Republic and his government who have put everything implemented for their return to the country.

Well before him, the Director of Cabinet of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and Ivorians Abroad welcomed this initiative of the President of the Republic who instructed the head of Ivorian diplomacy, SEM Léon Kacou ADOM to purposes of organizing the return of the Ivorian diaspora from Lebanon.

However, he clarified that this operation to repatriate Ivorians from Lebanon concerns around a hundred nationals living in Lebanon, 60 of whom have expressed the desire to return to the country.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs had already, on Friday October 25, 2024, organized the voluntary return of around twenty Ivorians residing in Lebanon before the arrival of the diplomatic corps this Saturday October 26.

The Director of Cabinet subsequently noted that everything is being done by the Ivorian Government through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the return of all Ivorians wishing to return to the country.
