Israel’s parliament today approved a law that would allow Israel to ban foreign media that undermine the state’s security, a bill that targeted the Qatari television network Al-Jazeera.
The law, which was approved by a vote of 70 to 10, gives the prime minister the ability to ban the broadcast of the targeted television network’s content, as well as to close its offices in Israel.
For his part, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced today that he wants to “act immediately” to ban Al Jazeera from being broadcast in Israel, shortly after the Knesset vote.
“Terrorist TV network Al Jazeera will no longer broadcast in Israel. I intend to act immediately in accordance with the new law in order to stop the activities of the network,” Netanyahu said in a post on the X social media.

Al Jazeera harmed Israel’s security, actively participated in the October 7 massacre, and incited against IDF soldiers. It is time to remove the shofar of Hamas from our country.
The terrorist channel Al Jazeera will no longer broadcast from Israel. I intend to act immediately in accordance with the new law to stop the channel’s activity.
I welcome the law promoted by the Minister of Communications…
