Israel launched strikes against the Gaza Strip at dawn today, killing 13 people, including three leaders of the Islamic Jihad movement, and wounding 20 people, including women and children.

Palestinian sources reported that Israeli warplanes and drones targeted the homes of the Secretary of the Military Council, Jihad Ghannam, the commander of the northern region, Khalil al-Bahtini, and one of the leaders of the military action in the occupied West Bank, Tariq Ezz al-Din.

A source from Al-Jihad confirmed to the BBC that “the leaders who were assassinated, in addition to a number of political members, were supposed to go to Cairo this morning on a visit to discuss with officials in the Egyptian intelligence.”

“A joint operation of the Israeli army and the Shin Bet security service was launched in the Gaza Strip, in response to the rockets launched last week, and against elements that have destabilized security in recent months,” said Israeli army spokesman Avichai Adraee.
