On Tuesday morning, Israel announced that it had killed a leader in the Hamas movement, in a raid on his home in the Gaza Strip.
Israeli army spokesman Avichai Adraee posted a video clip, with a comment saying, “The army and Shin Bet are liquidating the so-called Osama al-Muzaini, head of the Hamas Shura Council.”
Adraee added that Al-Muzaini “was responsible for the prisoners’ file, and directed terrorism against Israel.”
Israeli aircraft are still bombing sites in Gaza, during the violent attacks that have been ongoing for days on the besieged Strip.
Palestinian television reported that more than 70 Palestinians were killed during the past few hours, in an Israeli bombing that targeted homes in the city of Rafah and Khan Yunis in Gaza.
Authorities in the Gaza Strip say that more than 2,800 people have been killed in Israeli attacks since the seventh of this month, about a quarter of them children, and that more than 10,000 injured are receiving treatment in hospitals that suffer from a severe shortage of supplies.
