The new measures will last at least two weeks. However, the cabinet of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to extend them for another few weeks, writes the DPA agency. One of the criteria for relaxing the measure is a drop in the daily increase in new infections below 1000. Now the tests will detect around 3500 cases a day.

Netanyahu: Thanks to the vaccination, it will be over in a month
Israel began vaccinating the population last week. According to Monday’s data from the Ministry of Health, almost 380,000 people have received a two-phase vaccine, preferably health professionals and Israelis over 60 years of age.
–
About 70,000 people now receive the vaccine every day, up to 150,000 a day by next weekend. 24-hour vaccination centers also help.
–
The country could be released from the coronavirus crisis within 30 days of the risk groups being vaccinated, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Saturday night.
–
If Israel really manages to overcome the epidemic by March, the prime minister could win the votes of voters in the upcoming parliamentary elections. Netanyahu, who also faces allegations of corruption, is fighting for political survival and has been criticized in the past for his approach to fighting coronavirus, Reuters reports.
