The leaders of Israel, India, the United States and the United Arab Emirates announced two far-reaching collaborative projects in food security and clean energy on Thursday during a virtual meeting on the occasion of US President Joe Biden’s visit to Jerusalem.

They also welcome other new regional groupings such as the Negev Forum, which brings together Israel, the UAE, Bahrain, Morocco, Egypt and the United States.

The leaders “discussed innovative ways to ensure longer-term and more diverse food production, as well as food delivery systems to better address global food shocks,” the statement said.

Regarding the two projects, the United Arab Emirates will invest two billion dollars in the development of a series of food parks in India that will integrate green technologies to reduce food waste, conserve fresh water and use renewable sources. ‘renewable energy.

The second initiative will be the creation of a hybrid renewable energy project in “the Indian state of Gujarat, with a wind and solar capacity of 300 megawatts (MW), complemented by a battery energy storage system” , the joint statement said.

I2U2 leaders emphasize that these two projects are just the beginning of a “long-term strategic partnership that will improve the movement of people and goods across the hemispheres and increase the sustainability of collaborative science and technology partnerships.”
