Israel: Hezbollah attack in Haifa with rockets – At least five injured – 2024-10-08 06:41:20

At least five people were injured by the rockets fired by Hezbollah on Sunday night (6/10) against Haifa, in northern Israel, as reported by the Times of Israel citing hospital sources.

According to information, the condition of the injured does not inspire concern.

Earlier, Hezbollah confirmed the attack claiming responsibility. He claimed the target was an Israeli military base near Haifa.

The MDA Ambulance Service reported that the rocket attack left one teenager with moderate injuries and several others with minor injuries. The mayor of Tiberias informed, for his part, that the city received a barrage of rockets. One found the target and six were intercepted.

“With the Haifa attack, Hezbollah is sending a message”

A military analyst commented that Hezbollah’s missile attack on Haifa is particularly dangerous, as the city hosts not only a naval base but also a chemical industry.

“By targeting the port, it is a different message that Hezbollah is sending to the Israelis and it is warning that it can cause even more damage, not only to the military infrastructure located in Haifa but also to the chemical products,” he claimed to Al Jazeera.

Haifa is Israel’s largest city and the largest port in the north with about 300,000 inhabitants.

Journalist Nour Odeh reported that “this is the first time the people of Haifa have seen rockets land in the city.”

He also claimed that Haifa “is considered a prime target and this attack is something the Israelis did not want to happen. It could affect many sectors here in Israel.”

Beirut is Israel’s target again

Meanwhile, Israel has begun a new barrage of bombings in Beirut.

Among other things, it hit a mosque and a school, where evacuees from the Gaza Strip had taken refuge, killing at least 24 people.

The Israeli army issued a fresh appeal to residents of Beirut’s southern suburbs to evacuate the area, a Hezbollah stronghold that has been repeatedly targeted by Israeli airstrikes in recent days.
Following the Israeli evacuation order, fresh shelling began in Dahiyeh in Beirut, considered a Hezbollah stronghold.

The news is broadcast by Israeli media and the Lebanese Al Mayadeen, which is associated with Hezbollah.
