Israel on Friday renewed the requirement to wear face masks indoors.
The requirement was almost completely lifted in mid-June, but is back in effect on Friday as the government seeks to curb the spread of the Indian or delta variant of the coronavirus.
The requirement will not apply to young children and people who exercise indoors.
The Ministry of Health also recommended that people wear masks or other mouth and nose masks at large outdoor events.
More than 100 new cases of Covid-19 were registered in Israel on Monday for the first time since April, most of them in the Indian variant of the coronavirus.
Among these patients were many young people, as well as vaccinated people. However, the vaccine helps to prevent severe Covid-19.
In Israel, more than 5.5 million people have received a single dose of Covid-19 vaccine, while about 5.2 million have received both doses.
The vaccination campaign in Israel, with a population of nine million, has been very successful and has gained international recognition.
Recently, the rate of vaccination has slowed, but as the number of patients has increased, people’s desire to become infected with Covid-19 has increased again.
