The Israeli Ministry of Health announced that the number of injured people had risen to 4,932 and had been taken to hospitals since the start of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood. 299 of them are still receiving treatment, including 49 in serious condition.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) called for humanitarian aid to arrive in a sustainable and unhindered manner.
She called on UNRWA to adhere to international humanitarian law and protect civilians, infrastructure and United Nations facilities, saying, “Our shelters, which shelter more than half a million people, suffer from overcrowding, especially in the south of the Strip.”
The Israeli occupation imposes a complete siege on the Gaza Strip, including preventing the arrival of food and fuel supplies and cutting off electricity, which increases fears that the humanitarian situation will deteriorate further.
The Palestinian resistance launched a surprise operation against the Israeli occupation on the morning of Saturday, October 7, under the name “Al-Aqsa Flood,” by launching thousands of rocket shells towards the settlements close to the Gaza envelope, and in parallel, unprecedented entry operations of Palestinian resistance fighters into the occupied territories took place.
The Israeli occupation declared a state of war on the Gaza Strip and launched hundreds of devastating air strikes on towers, residential homes, sites belonging to the Hamas movement, and agricultural lands.
