Last week it was announced that Israel may be disqualified because the first choice, entitled “October rain”, would be too political. Political messages are not allowed in the Eurovision Song Contest. “October rain” refers to October 7, the day the war between Hamas and Israel began.
Ynet writes that “Dance forever” has been provisionally rejected for the same reason. According to the news site, the song refers to the Nova music festival, which was attacked by Hamas on October 7. According to ynet, both songs by singer Eden Golan were submitted to the EBU at the same time.
Israel still has more than two weeks to come up with another song or change the lyrics. All entries must be known by March 11. If that fails, Israel will be disqualified.
Israeli participation was already a topic of discussion after several countries called for the country to be banned from the Eurovision Song Contest because of the war in Gaza. The EBU announced several times that Israel could participate.
