“Israel ends all contacts with Gaza. [Izraēlā] there will be no more Palestinian workers from Gaza,” Israel’s security cabinet said Thursday night.
“Those workers from Gaza who were in Israel on the day the war broke out will be returned to Gaza,” the security cabinet added, without specifying how many would be sent back.
Before October 7, when the war between Israel and Hamas, the ruling militant group in the Gaza Strip, began, Israel had issued work permits to approximately 18,500 residents of the Gaza Strip, the Israeli defense institution responsible for Palestinian civil affairs, COGAT, informed.
COGAT has not yet answered the question of how many Gazans were working in Israel on October 7, when Hamas fighters from the Gaza Strip invaded Israel, killing at least 1,400 people.
Israel has responded to this attack with a bombing campaign against Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
Authorities in the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip claim that more than 9,000 people have been killed in Israeli bombardment of the Gaza Strip, but these numbers are believed to be greatly exaggerated given the disinformation so far spread by Hamas. In addition, a large number of those killed are fighters of Islamist groups.
