Israel Emphasizes Continued Inspection of Humanitarian Aid to Gaza Strip – UN Resolution Approved

Israel delivered his comments after the Security Council United Nations (UN) approved a resolution demanding the distribution of large-scale security assistance to Gaza Strip. Israel emphasized that it would continue to inspect all humanitarian aid entering the Palestinian enclave.

A resolution sponsored by the United Arab Emirates has been agreed UN Security Council in voting on Friday (22/12) local time, after experiencing a delay of several days. The voting results showed that 13 member countries of the UN Security Council supported it, while the United States (US) and Russia abstained.

The resolution “demands” that all parties to the war raging between Israel and Hamas allow “the safe and unimpeded delivery of large-scale humanitarian aid.”

The resolution also demands that “all routes to and throughout the Gaza Strip, including border crossings” be opened for the distribution of humanitarian aid, and requests the appointment of a UN humanitarian coordinator to monitor and verify third country aid to the Gaza Strip.

As reported AFPSaturday (23/12/2023), Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs (Menlu) Eli Cohen in his response emphasized that he would continue to carry out inspections or inspections of security aid entering the Gaza Strip.

“Israel will continue to inspect, for security reasons, all humanitarian aid to Gaza,” Cohen said in his statement.

“The UN cannot be trusted to monitor incoming aid,” he said.
