Israel Denies Ceasefire Reports in Gaza as Conflict Continues

Tel Aviv: Israel has denied reports that it has agreed to a ceasefire in Gaza. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office denied reports of a ceasefire, news agencies said. Hamas has also stated that it is not ready for a ceasefire.

At the same time, Israel’s ambassador to the US, Gillard Erdan, stated that he is not interested in capturing Gaza, but will proceed with measures to eliminate Hamas. Erdan came out to clarify his position after US President Joe Biden said that Israel’s move to capture Gaza would be a big mistake.

Meanwhile, Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari said that Hamas, which attacked across the border, took 199 hostages. Earlier, the army said that 155 people were taken hostage by Hamas. The army also said authorities were in contact with the families of the hostages. Efforts are on to locate the place where the hostages are kept. Israel also stated that it will not carry out an attack that endangers the lives of the hostages.

The Hamas Interior Ministry said more than 1,000 Palestinians were trapped in the rubble of buildings destroyed by Israeli airstrikes in Gaza. The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced that it has delivered essential medical supplies to Beirut amid ongoing clashes with the Israeli army along the Lebanese border. The statement also said that 800 to 1,000 injured patients arrived in Beirut, including surgical drugs to meet their needs.
